Introducing the FK Knuckle lock kit
A strong and sleek knuckle, CNC machined and profiled out of high quality 4140 steel, combining strength and durability with superior handling, insane lock and full confidence behind the wheel, you can be assured that you'll be able to push the limits with your car and spend more time shredding than pulling your car out of the gravel trap (trust me, we've all been there).
Designed with the beginner drifter in mind as well as the seasoned pro, we've combined the best of both worlds by creating this kit as an all rounder kit, retaining OEM fitment of LCA, allowing you to run stock extended arms or doing the more popular cheap BMW E46 LCA conversion. Throughout our vigorous testing, you can expect up to 65 degrees of lock just with an E46 LCA and a low offset 17-inch wheel.
We also made things better by relocating the tie rod location for reduced bump steer and converting it to a spherical tie rod end (rose joint). This was a must as the factory tie rod design is too weak, is notorious for binding and breaking when under extreme loads when drifting and is difficult to remove when needing to put in a new part.
An important thing to note as well, adding drift lock kits with adapters to the steering knuckle can potentially increase the risk of steering components failing compared to using a bespoke built knuckle with integrated modifications. Having steering components failing at high speeds and angles is not fun and can be harmful to your vehicle and yourself as the driver. Reasons why our bespoke FK knuckle is the best option:
1. Added Stress on Components: Kits with adapters introduce extra stress and potential failure points. Theypoints. They may not be as structurally sound as a custom-built knuckle.
2. Compatibility and Fitment Issues: Depending on the kit's design and quality, there may be fitment problems. Poorly fitting adapters can cause misalignment and increased wear on components.
3. Material and Manufacturing Quality: Aftermarket kits vary in material and manufacturing quality. Lower quality materials may not withstand aggressive drifting maneuvers.
4. Engineering Expertise: A bespoke knuckle is likely engineered with a specific focus on performance and safety. Adapters may not have the same level of engineering scrutiny.
A full knuckle may be more expensive than a cheap lock adaptor or other cheaper options, but is a tie rod blowing out on you doing 150kph throwing you into a wall ruining your car and potentially harming yourself worth it? No, definitely not, and YES that is another " been there done that" moment. Another reason for developing this knuckle.
Some of the FK E36 Drift knuckle key features include:
1. Upgraded Tie-rod: Replaces the factory inner tie-rod with a shackle-style and heim joint construction for superior durability and longevity.
2. Minimal Bump Steer: Optimized tie-rod pitch angle ensures minimal bump steer during drifts, providing smoother transitions and improved stability.
3. Chromoly Heim Joints and Spherical Bearings:
Crafted from CNC machined 4140 material, these premium components deliver exceptional strength, reliability, and durability.
4. Impressive Lock Angle: Achieve 65+ degrees of lock, surpassing the standard 44 degrees, for extreme angles and unmatched drifting potential.
Depending on front alignment and wheel setup, there is room for more.
5. Versatility and Compatibility: Made to Work with
E46 LCA's if you want to keep the budget down with off the shelf parts.
6. Proven Performance: tested and proven on track to ensure this setup is strong, reliable and Capable of putting up with the extreme angles and conditions drifting has to throw at you.
7. Exceeding 70 Degrees of Angle: Depending on your front wheel/ suspension setup you can unleash the full capabilities of the FK E36 Drift Knuckle with extended LCA's, a lower offset rim and larger spacer fitted to exceed 70 degrees of angle.
